Orison Appointed to Spencer City Council

Spencer, IA (KICD)–A new Ward 2 Spencer City Councilmember has been appointed.

Councilman Steve Bomgaars nominated Bill Orison to fill the post in special session tonight.

Bomgaars and fellow Councilmembers Frank Petska, Rich, Prentice, and George Moriarty unanmously approved the appointment of Orison and thanked all 6 of the candidates on file for showing interest in the position.

Orison has lived in Spencer for around 40 years and worked as a public accountant before moving onto the banking industry where he retired from Northwest Bank two years ago.

Economic development and housing are tops on the list of issues for Orison.

While the appointment of Orison is official, Mayor Reynold Peterson put out the reminder that a special election can be called with 15 signatures by Ward 2 residents if submitted by 5:00 on June 23rd.

The Ward 2 City Council seat opened following the recent passing of longtime Councilmember Ed Krebs. Orison’s term expires November 3rd of 2015.
