OBCCF Foundation Awards

Primghar, IA (KICD)–The O’Brien County Community Foundation doled out 27 grants totaling over $103,000 to nonprofit organizations and units of local government this morning.

Advisory Board Chair Denise Steffen tells KICD News they have a representative from each town in the County on the board.

Steffen says the grants are going to a myriad of organizations.

In normal years the foundation receives requests for double their annual allocation, but this year they were able to fully fund more projects than normal.

Since the first grants were made in 2006, over $744,262 has been awarded. Funding for the grant program is a result of County Endowment Fund legislation passed in 2005 which provides that a percentage of state gambling revenues be distributed among all Iowa counties that do not have a gambling entity.
