North Spencer Accident

Spencer, IA (KICD) — A Spencer woman was injured in a two vehicle crash, north of Spencer.
  The Iowa State Patrol said the accident occurred at 5:23 Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Highways 71 and 18, north of Spencer.  22-year old Meghan Renken was southbound on Highway 71 in a 2004 Pontiac Bonnevile.  28-year old Jonathan Petersen of Ocheyedan was driving a 1995 GMC Jimmy westbound, at the intersection.
  Petersen failed to stop at the crossover stop sign,  broadsiding the Pontiac, causing it to slide into the west ditch striking a light pole.  The Jimmy came to rest in the east bound lane of Highway 18.
  Renken was injured and was taken to Spencer Hospital by Spencer Ambulance.  Petersen was not injured  Assisting at the scene was the Clay County Sheriffs Office, Spencer Police, Spencer Fire and Rescue and Fostoria Fire and Rescue.
