New Mayor and Councilman in Milford

Milford, IA (KICD)–The process of moving forward was started at tonight’s Milford City Council session.

The evening opened with the appointment of Bill Reinsbach as Mayor and Rody Pederson as a new City Councilmember. Both were approved by a unanimous vote. Reinsbach took the oath of office by phone.

Rody Pederson runs his own electrical business in Milford and hopes to bring order and common sense to the Council.

Mayor Don Lamb and City Councilmember Rick Kilts resigned 12 days ago. The public may petition for a special election within 14 days if they so choose.

A separation agreement with former City Administrator Matthew Skaret was also approved which included a 4 month severance package with benefits and leaves the city with no potential for future litigation. The search process for a replacement will start immediately with a 2-4 month timeline anticipated.

The council also approved a contract with the Stevens Public Management firm where former Spirit Lake City Administrator Mark Stevens will assist the city for a couple of months in the absence of a City Administrator.
