Motorcycle vs Semi Accident

Algona, IA (KICD) — An Algona man is seriously injured in an accident involving a motorcycle and a semi.

The Kossuth County Sheriffs Office said the accident occurred late Thursday morning, at the intersection of Highway 18 and 140th Avenue. 52-year old John Edonino of Albia was driving a 2007 Mack semi with a trailer west on Highway 18, and turned south onto 140th Avenue.

The semi turned in front of a 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by 57-year old Phillip Heath. The Harley struck the rear axle of the trailer. Heath received serious injuries and was transported to Kossuth County Regional Health Center by Algona Ambulance, and was life flighted out.

Endonino said he did not see the motorcycle when he went to turn. As a result, he was cited for failure to yield upon making a left turn. The Harley was totalled in the accident, while the semi-trailer received an estimated $500 in damage.
