Spencer, IA (KICD) — Parts of the broadcast area encountered severe weather Monday night.

Shortly after 6-pm, strong to severe storms entered northwest Iowa. Several reports of hail were received at the KICD studios including quarter size 7 miles NW of Hartley and at Silver Lake. Marble sized hail was reported at Ayrshire, and reports of dime size hail were received at a few locations. Pea sized hail fell at the KICD and LITE studios.

There were some winds reported around 60 mph, which with the hail did cause some damage to fields. Some heavy rains also accompanied the storms as they drove through nw Iowa. NW of Hartley reported 1.8 inches, while a report of nearly 2 inches was received near Ayrshire. North Spencer picked up .55 from the storms.
