Milford, IA (KICD) — An Indiana man is injured after crashing his motorcycle in Milford.

The Dickinson County Sheriffs Office said the accident happened just after 4:30 Tuesday afternoon, on 240th Avenue. 55-year old Michael Loftis of Van Buren was driving a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle north, when his hat flew off. He turned to look for it, then lost control of the motorcycle.

After the bike swerved back and forth violently, it went down and slid into the west ditch. Loftis was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare, and was then flown to a Sioux Falls Hospital with incapacitating injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
