Lyon County Kidnapping

Rock Rapids, IA (KICD) — Two people are arrested in a kidnapping incident.

On July 22nd, Lyon County Deputies and a Iowa Highway Patrolman responded to a call from an individual claiming he had been kidnapped in western Lyon County. The victim was located, and as a result, 55-year old Craig Olson of Canton, South Dakota was arrested for 3rd degree kidnapping, a class C felony.

32-year old Oriana Groppetti of Visalia, California was arested and charged with 3rd degree kidnapping (aiding and abetting) and one count of 3rd degree kidnapping, both class C felonies. She was arrested Thursday in Visalia California. She was apprehended with the assistance of the Sioux Falls area fugitive task force.

Investigation determined the kidnapping incident occurred July 21st, which began in Lincoln County South Dakota. The victim was brought to Lyon County during the morning hours of July 22nd, and locked in a grain bin on an abandoned acreage. The victim escaped from the grain bin and was captured by the suspects and taken to a second grain bin location in western Lyon County. The victim again escaped and ran to another acreage where he was able to call 911.

This is an ongoing investigation and charges are pending against others involved.
