Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association Announces Hall of Fame Class

Arnolds Park (IRRMA)–The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association is proud to announce the distinguished 2014 Hall of Fame Class of Inductees. Twenty-five were selected for the 2014 Induction and five selected for the Spirit Award.

Performing Iowa Bands are: Crystal Axe (Northeast Iowa), Spectrum 70 (Spencer), Instant Blues Machine (Sioux City), Tom Gilman and Ronnie Meek (Sioux City), Oink Henderson and the Squealers (Marengo and Iowa City), Silver Laughter (Davenport), and Captain Beefhart and the Shipwrecks (Des Moines).

The out-of-state Performing Band selected is the grammy-nominated jazz rock band, Chase. Appearing for a special LIVE performance at the Induction Ceremony in Arnolds Park, Chase members will honor the late Bill Chase, who died in a plane crash outside of Jackson, Minnesota in 1974.

Individual Musicians selected for induction are: Michael Cutsforth (Waterloo), Mick Staebell (Waterloo), Cliff Berinobis (Waterloo), Steve Streit (Milford), Bob Saar (Burlington), Rich Webster (Des Moines), and Del “Saxman” Jones (Des Moines).

The Dan Matosek Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Don Bourett of Sioux City, IA, for his long performing career and dedication to keeping the spirit of rock ‘n roll alive.

Michael Daugherty is presented with the IRRMA Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in education, composition and performance.

Paul McCartney is also the recipient of the IRRMA Lifetime Achievement Award for his influence on rock ‘n roll and incredibly inspiring career in the music industry.

Non-performing inductees are: DJ James “Jim” Juve and KDEC Radio out of Decorah, Promoter Kent Larson, The Gayla Ballroom of Independence, Vets Auditorium of Des Moines, DJ Maxwell Schaefer of Des Moines, and the late guitarist Jan Kuehnemund in the Women Who Rock category from St. Paul, MN.

This years Spirit Awards for outstanding contribution to the preservation of music in Iowa are presented to volunteer Steve Daly (Spencer), The Chesterfield Club (Sioux City), media personality Scott Sanborn (Cedar Rapids), and to the bands Silver Wings (Cedar Rapids) and Pastmasters (Cedar Rapids).

The 2014 Hall of Fame Induction Spectacular will take place in Arnolds Park over Labor Day Weekend 2014. The Induction Ceremony will be held on Sunday afternoon, August 31, 2014, at the SAMI Center in Spirit Lake, IA. Sunday night will play host to the famed Induction Concert at the Roof Garden in Arnolds Park Amusement Park.

Tickets go on sale on May 1, 2014, to Life Members ONLY. Ticket sales will open to the public May 15, 2014, online through the IRRMA Website or at the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Museum and Offices. www.iowarocknroll.com
