Iowa April Unemployment

Des Moines, IA (RI) — Iowa’s unemployment rate dropped to four-point-three percent in April from a revised March rate of four-point-five percent.

Iowa Workforce Development spokesperson, Kerry Koonce says that’s a nice change for the month…

Koonce says the labor force has been growing and that led to an increase in unemployment in the last couple of months. This time more jobs offset the impact of more people returning to the workforce.

The drop in unemployment turns back a short move upward as the start of this year as Koonce says weather helped delay some increase in construction work…

The state unemployement rate was four-point-seven percent one year ago in April. The U-S unemployment rate fell to six-point-three (6.3) percent in April from six-point-seven (6.7) percent in March.
