Informa Predicts Fewer Corn Acres, More Soy in 2014

Spencer, IA: (Jan. 17, 2014) – Informa Economics said in a report to clients on Friday that U.S. growers will decrease corn planting while increasing soybean planting this spring.

Informa said U.S. farmers will probably plant just over 93.3 million acres, down more than 2 million acres from last year.

Soybeans will probably be seeded on 81.26 million acres, up 4.7 million from last year.

Winter wheat acres are likely to be down 1.2 million acres at 41.9 million. Acres seeded to rice expected to be up slightly at 2.75 million.
