ILCC Earns Surgical Tech Accreditation

Spencer, IA (KICD)–The Surgical Technology Program at Iowa Lakes Community College has received continuing accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.

A peer review was conducted by representatives from the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting which recognized the program s substantial compliance with nationally established accreditation standards.  To qualify for accreditation, the curriculum offered must meet or exceed the demands of the Core Curriculum of Surgical Technology.

The program has two offerings: The Associate in Applied Science program consists of 76 credits over five semesters; and, a Diploma option can be completed in 11 months. Both are based at the Spencer campus of Iowa Lakes Community College.

The next comprehensive evaluation of the program, including an on-site review, is scheduled to occur by 2023.
