Highway 71/18 Accident

 Spencer, IA (KICD) — A California man is charged after a two vehicle accident just north of Spencer.
  Shortly before 2:30 Friday afternoon, the Clay County Sheriff responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 71 and Highway 18, north of Spencer.  Following an investigation, it was determined  that 30-year old Lee Konfeldt of Bakersfield, California, was driving a 2014 Dodge Pickup west, and was stopped at the median
  After stopping Konfeldt proceeded west, across the southbound lanes of Highway 71, failing to yield to southbound traffic, then striking a southbound 2001 Ford Focus, driven by 77-year old Dale Belz of Spencer.  There were possible minor injuries in the collision.
  The Dodge pickup received approximately $7000 in damage, while damage to the Focus was estimated at $6000.  Konfeldt was cited for failure to obey a traffic sign. Assisting at the scene was the Spencer Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, Spencer Hospital Paramedics, Spencer Fire and Rescue, and Fostoria Fire and Rescue.
