Spencer, IA: (Apr. 21, 2014) – Iowa Ag Secretary Bill Northey says funds are available to support research or demonstration projects that focus on reducing non-point pollution.

Northey says the funds from the State Soil Conservation Committee’s Research and Demonstration Fund are available to teams of scientists, farmers, educators and others.

The Spirit Lake farmer says the purpose of the project is to generate new techniques and conservation practices that can help landowners reduce soil erosion and protect water quality.

Applications are due by May 23rd. And funding decisions will be made in May with a July 1st projected start date.
