Emmetsburg, IA (KICD)–Iowa’s Hidden Treasure will be revealed at the 27th Annual Fun and Wellness Day in Emmetsburg in mid-May.
Dan Kaercher, retired founding editor-in-chief of Midwest Living magazine and Iowa Public Television host, spent years traveling in almost every one of Iowa’s 99 counties in search of close-to-home attractions and getaways to share with his loyal readers and viewers.
“You’ll be amazed to learn what surprises you don’t know await right in your own backyard – Iowa,” Kathy Merrill, one of the organizers of the event. “The stories of his travels will entertain our guests.”
Fun and Wellness Day is held annually and features a day of activities, health screenings, workshops and entertainment for anyone age 50 and better. This is the 27th year of the event which is held at Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg on Wednesday, May 14. Doors open at 7:45 a.m. for registration, continental breakfast and display booths. The Welcome begins at 8:45 a.m.
As always, this event features a plethora of concurrent sessions. Sessions include: health call, nutrition, financial planning, gardening, strength training, computers and even Smartphones.
There is no advance registration. Cost is $10 at the door to cover all sessions as well as a continental breakfast and a roast beef dinner with all the ‘fixings’ for lunch. In addition, attendees will have an opportunity to purchase locally homemade Iowa treasures!
All participants are encouraged to park in the main, northeast parking lot and enter the college through Entrance ‘3’ and then follow the signs. Those desiring assistance from the parking lot may get a ride from golf cart escorts.
The event begins at 7:45 a.m. with registration, wellness and resource information, coffee and continental breakfast. The welcome begins at 8:45 a.m. with the keynote message following.
