Spencer, IA (KICD)–Free HIV and Hepatitis C testing will be offered this Friday in Spencer.

Clay County Public Health Nurse Colette Rossiter says that testing is the only way to know if you are infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. She adds that they would like to test those who have a history of high risk behaviors, such as unprotected sex and needle sharing.

Hepatitis C testing is available for anyone who has received a blood transfusion or organ transplant prior to July 1992; has been on long-term hemodialysis; or has used or shared needles for injection of street drugs or steroids.

The free and confidential HIV and Hepatitis C testing will be available in Spencer on Friday from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at the Spencer Medical Arts Building. Appointments are not necessary.
