Estherville Underpass Accident


Estherville, IA (KICD) — An Estherville woman was injured after driving her car into a railroad underpass.

The Estherville Police said the accident occurred Tuesday evening, at the railroad underpass on South 9th Street,  59-year old Jacqueline Schenk was southbound in a 2001 Chrysler Concorde, when she struck a road sign, then drove into the northwest corner of the underpass structure and supporting wall.  There were no signs of Schenk losing control and no marks from her trying to brake before the accident

Schenk received non-incapacitating injuries, and was taken to Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.  The Chrysler was totalled in the accident, and damage to the road sign was an estimated $200.
