Spencer, IA (KICD)–Area legislators ran the gamut at the first Eggs and Issues session of 2014 on Saturday.
State Representative Jeff Smith of Spirit Lake says they are going to have an extremely challenging budget year buoyed by increasing education, Medicare, and other fixed expenses.

State Auditor Mary Mosiman says in addition to all of the state issues, all Iowans should be aware of what is happening with the federal government.

State Representative Megan Hess of SpencerĀ highlighted a bill she introduced which deals with background checks for school employees that stalled in sub-committee.
