Spencer, IA (KICD) — Spencer officials and residents gathered to honor a councilman.

A large crowd gathered to give thanks and show support for Councilman Ed Krebs Friday.

Krebs has been in service for the city of Spencer for 36 years, including his current position on the Spencer City Council.  Mayor Reynold Peterson tells KICD News that Krebs has performed wonderfully in his duties over the years…

Krebs has been fighting a battle with cancer for the past several months while at the same time continuing to be active in city government whenever possible. Reynolds said the his illness has not kept him from his duties…

As responsible as Krebs has been with his position, Peterson says he has a lighter side, as well…

As part of the show of respect for Krebs, Spencer Police and Fire vehicles paraded past his residence, with Police vehicle sirens going off.
