Duplex Fire

Milford, IA (KICD)–Authorities have declared a Tuesday evening fire in Milford to be accidental in nature.
The Milford Fire Department was called to 24484 182nd Street in the Moore Lake area shortly before 9 p.m. Upon arrival smoke was coming from the eves of the duplex type home. Entry was gained to the unoccupied side of the structure and the first floor was discovered to be on fire. Assistance was immediately called for from the Arnolds Park-Okoboji Fire Department. The fire was quickly extinguished, but extensive damage was done to that side of the duplex. Heavy fire damage was sustained in the Kitchen area, with smoke and water damage in most of the residence.  The other side of the duplex suffered smoke damage.  There were no injuries.
Others assisting include the the Iowa State Fire Marshals Office. Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative, Tom’s Plumbing, and Dickinson County Emergency Management.  Units were on scene until just before 1:00 this morning
