Drunk Driver Sentenced

Estherville, IA (KICD) — An Armstrong man that led officers on a high speed chase in April, has been senteced to prison.

According to online court documents, 39-year old Michael Daniels received the sentence after pleading guilty in Emmet County District Court, to the OWI 3rd Offense, a class D felony. As part of the plea agreement, the charges of eluding and assault on a law enforcement officer were dismissed.

Daniels was sentenced last Monday to up to five years in state prison, to be served concurrently with any and all sentences for cases against Daniels in Woodbury and Sioux counties. Daniels was given credit for 43 days served in the Emmet County Jail. He also must pay over $4200 in fines and surcharges.

Daniels also had his driving priveleges revoked for 6 years.
