Disaster Declarations

Des Moines, IA (KICD)– Emmet County was issued a proclamation of disaster emergency on Wednesday.

This Governor s proclamation allows State resources to be utilized to respond to and recover from the effects from flooding and severe weather beginning June 13th.

In addition, the proclamation activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Program for Buena Vista, Cherokee, Lyon, Palo Alto, Plymouth and Sioux Counties. Grants are available for home or car repairs, replacement of clothing or food, and for the expense of temporary housing. Grant applications and instructions are available on the Iowa Department of Human Services website.

FEMA has also been asked to conduct damage assessments in Emmet, Kossuth, and Pocahontas Counties. Results of the damage assessments could be used to determine if a request for a Presidential Disaster Declaration is warranted.
