Spencer, IA (KICD)–The five Republican candidates running for three open seats on the Clay County Board of Supervisors gathered for a forum Wednesday night.

On the topic of Economic Development Burlin Matthews says as a county their job is to look at the smaller businesses.

Bob Raymer says one thing to remember is that we are an agricultural area.

Linda Swanson says we are seeing the possibility of Clay County becoming a mental health hub.

Barry Anderson says in talking with kids, including his own, he gets the feeling that that their education here is short, and they are looking at getting out of Clay County.

Ken Challstrom says the county has been working hard at economic development efforts for years.

Primary polling is open from 7:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. this coming Tuesday.
