Students who are within two years of graduation are eligible to apply. There are two plans available: a semester term and a summer term. A semester term must last at least 14 weeks, with the student averaging 10 hours per week. A student seeking a summer internship must work at least eight 30-hour weeks. Students must also be U.S. Citizens from any college or university, including community college.
Eligible employers are for-profit businesses in Clay County. Ineligible businesses include not-for-profit organizations and city, state and federal employers.
Businesses are reimbursed (dollar for dollar) up to $3,000 for each intern, and can apply for a maximum of three interns per fiscal year. Interns must be paid a minimum of $15.20 per hour, which is the average regional wage for Clay County.
Clay County employers that wish to participate in the Student Internship Program can contact the Iowa Lakes Corridor. The application deadline is Friday, April 11th. At that time, the Jobs Trust will review the applicants and notify those that are accepted by Friday, April 25th.
