Clay County Fair Queen Contest


Spencer, IA (KICD) – The search for the 2014 Clay County Fair Queen candidates is underway.

  The winner to be crowned Sunday, May 11, will reign over this year’s Clay County Fair and will also compete for the State Fair Queen title.  Fair Manager Jeremy Parsons tells KICD News the guidelines for possible candidates…

Once the Fair Queen is crowned, she will take on a lot of duties, as Parsons explains…

The newly crowned Queen not only takes on an active duties schedule, she will be the recipient of numerous prizes…

Contestants may pick up an application from their school counselor, the Clay County Fair Administration Building, or online at The application must be submitted to the Clay County Fair Queen Contest, PO Box 527, Spencer, Iowa 51301 or emailed to on or before April 18.

  Candidates will be judged on personality, attitude, awareness, leadership and citizenship, contribution to the community, overall appearance, charm poise and her three-minute or less self-expression portion. All judges’ decisions will be final.
A committee will then select the finalists who will be notified May 1st, compete for the title on Sunday, May 11 at the Spencer Community Theatre.
