Clay County Audit Report

Spencer, IA (KICD)–The official audit report from 2013 for Clay County was presented to the Board of Supervisors last week by Winther-Stave & Associates.
The County had local tax revenue of over $28.6 million for the year ending June 30th which included over $1.1 million in tax credits from the state. The County forwarded over $21.5 million of the local tax revenue to the townships, school districts, cities and other taxing bodies in the County.  The rest of the revenue was retained for County operations, which represents a 4.6 percent increase from the prior year.  Expenses for County operations totaled over $12.1 million, a 9.2 percent increase from the prior year.
