Cherokee Man Sentenced

Cherokee, IA (KICD)–A Cherokee man originally charged with attempted murder will spend between 5 and 25 years in prison.
34-year-old Joseph Kosiba was sentenced in Cherokee County District Court on Monday after pleading guilty to a class B felony charge of 1st degree burglary, a class D felony count of going armed with intent, and domestic abuse assault.
On the evening of November 12th last year Cherokee Police received a 911 call from a woman  reporting that Kosiba had broken into her house and was trying to killer her.  The woman and her daughter fled from the home.  A Storm Lake man was allegedly assaulted by Kosiba with a hammer.
Under the plea agreement Kosiba will spend 5 to 25 years in prison
