Cherokee, IA (KICD) — Authorities are investigating the discovery of a body in a river.

KICD News spoke with Cherokee Police Chief Steve Schuck, who said Cherokee Police started the investigation after a Cherokee resident found the body of a male in the Little Sioux River, near Westcott Park The body was found just before 2-pm (today) Monday While the name of the individual wasn’t able to be released, it was determined to be a local resident.

No other details are available, however, foul play in the case has not been ruled out.,
