Everly, IA (KICD) — The Clay Central Everly School Board adopted the 2014-15 budget at their Monday evening meeting.
Superintendent Dennis McClain tells KICD News that patrons of the district will be paying a much lower rate.
The tax levy rate for the coming year will be $11.15 per $1,000 of property valuation, down from $14,10 this year. What that will mean is that the district will have to start using some of the cash reserves in the general fund. McClain said it’s not a devastating position.
Any spending authority the district does not use from a given year is rolled into the maximum authorized budget for the following year. McClain noted $782,092 was not spent from this current year’s budget and will be added to next year’s number.
