Undated (KICD)–Blizzard conditions are expected today in much of the listening area following a glimpse of better weather.
A blizzard warning is in effect for Emmet, Palo Alto, Pocahontas and Kossuth Counties from 9:00 a.m. today to 6:00 on Friday morning.  The National Weather Service says a wintry mix of precipitation this morning will transition to snow with rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour with the possibility of thundersnow.  Snow and ice accumulation is anticipated to be 4 to 8 inches with higher amounts possible in isolated areas.  Sustained winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour with gusts up to 50 miles per hour will produce whiteout conditions.  Do not travel unless you have to and pack a winter survival kit in case you are stranded.
A winter weather advisory is in effect until 6:00 Friday morning for the remainder of the KICD listening area.  Winds of 20 to 35 miles per hour and gusts up to 45 along with 3 to 5 inches of snowfall is anticipated for those communities.
