Spencer, IA (KICD)–Spencer Police are receiving reports from area residents of calls requesting information to confirm credit card information.
It is believed that some of this stems from the recent hacking of Target customers.  If you used your credit card at Target or any of the other stores involved, you should check your statements carefully.  It may be wise to get your card exchanged.
As always the public is encouraged to never give out personal or financial information over the phone unless you know who you are speaking with.
