Spencer, IA: (Mar. 25, 2014) – The top ten nominees for Iowa’s Best Burger contest are in, and they show that great hamburgers can be found anywhere in Iowa, in a small town, or in a large metropolitan area.

The Iowa Beef Industry Council and the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association received nominations for 456 Iowa restaurants in this year’s balloting. One of the top ten nominees was The Ritz in Arnolds Park.

Iowa’s Best Burger contest now moves to the next stage. All Top Ten restaurants will be visited by judges who will evaluate the hamburgers based on taste, appearance, and proper serving temperature (160 degrees).

Last year, the 61 Chop House Grille in Mediapolis took home the final prize. This year’s winner will be announced in May.

Iowa Beef Industry Council Chair Roger Brummett says, “Iowans have a very special place in their heart for burgers,” which he refers to as “the all-American classic.”
