Spencer, IA (KICD)–A Hartley man was taken to the hospital following a motorcycle versus SUV accident on Friday.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 22-year-old Liesl Wells of Algona drifted into oncoming traffic in the 1200 mile of B-24 shortly after 5:00 p.m. 42-year-old Joshua Seaman braked and attempted to steer away but was unable to avoid colliding with Wells’ SUV. Seaman lost control of his motorcycle and slid into the north ditch.

Seaman was taken to Spencer Hospital with minor injuries. Wells was cited for driving on the wrong side of a two lane highway.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A Storm Lake man was pulled from a pickup by Police following an OWI accident early Sunday morning.

Storm Lake Police allege that 17-year-old Mark Delira crossed the street, jumped the curb and drove through the grass median at Malarky’s Night Club. He struck two parked vehicles and attempted to flee. Police officers chased the truck on foot and stopped it at which time they removed Delira from the truck.

Delira faces charges of OWI and No Drivers License.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–No injuries were reported after a pickup was struck by a train on Saturday afternoon.

The driver allegedly failed to obey the stop sign at the crossing and upon crossing the railroad tracks was struck by an eastbound Chicago Central Pacific Illinois Central Train in Storm Lake.

Paramedics were dispatched to the scene. The two passengers in the truck were reportedly uninjured.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–Additional charges have been levied against a Storm Lake man.

Storm Lake Police took a report of damage and theft from vehicles last week. A search at the home of 32-year-old Jose Flores turned up some of the stolen property.

Flores now faces charges of 3rd Degree Burglary and 5th Degree Criminal Mischief. He remains held in the Buena Vista County Jail on a $25,000 bond.


Emmetsburg, IA (KICD) — A Nebraska man is jailed on a felony OWI charge.

The Palo Alto County sheriffs Office said a Mazda pickup was heading west towards Emmetsburg. The vehicle was stopped in Emmetsburg, and 58-year old Mark Jurgens of Filley was found to be driving under the influence. He was then charged with a class D felony of OWI 3rd offense, and open container, and booked into jail.


Orange City, IA (KICD) — A woman wanted on warrants leads authorities on a high speed chase before crashing.

Late Sunday night, Merrill Police started the pursuit of a South Dakota registered Jeep for speeding, and continued until they got to the Sioux County line. The vehicle was later seen by a state trooper on Highway 60 south of Alton. .

As he pursued the Jeep, it went through Alton on the old highway 60 road going through town, then lost control trying to turn. The vehicle entered the north ditch and struck a utility pole, coming to rest. 38-year old Sarah Mohr of Sioux City was taken into custody, after she was clocked driving 91 mph in a 25 mph zone in Alton.

Mohr was found to have a valid warrant for her arrest out of Minnesota for possession of dangerous drugs and they will extradite. She was also found to be in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Mohr was booked into the Sioux County Jail and charged with possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, eluding, and several other traffic charges.
