Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)–A Spirit Lake man faces charges following a Thursday altercation.

Court documents obtained by KICD News allege that 38-year-old Jeremy Wohlert got into a physical altercation with a woman and held her against her will. A criminal complaint alleges that Wohlert had two kitchen knives in each of his hands and told the woman to come over at which time Wohlert slit his throat and struck a minor in the face during an argument.

Charges filed include domestic assault with the display or use of a weapon, child endangerment causing bodily injury, false imprisonment, obstruction of emergency communications and 5th degree criminal mischief. Wohlert was held in Dickinson County Jail on an $8,000 cash or surety bond.

Sheldon, IA (KICD)–Three from Worthington were injured, including one critically, in a Monday morning accident in O’Brien County.

The Sheriff’s Office says a van was heading south on Highway 60 just after 6:30 a.m. following a semi which slowed down due to the slick roadway. The driver of the van tried to slow down as well and lost control. A passenger, 59-year-old Pedro Magana was thrown from the van as it entered the median and rolled.

Mercy Hospital staff believe that Magana’s injuries would probably result in a fatality, but were unsure.

23-year-old Alex Ramirez -Sandoval suffered incapacitating injuries and 37-year-old Savina Ramos sustained non-incapacitating injuries. The two were taken to Sheldon Hospital.

Emmetsburg, IA (KICD)–Nobody was injured after a school bus slid into a ditch Monday morning.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says 64-year-old Barbra Stence of Algona lost control after the roadway became very icy in a short amount of time. There were 12 children on the bus and nobody was harmed.

The bus was pulled out of the ditch and drove away.

Stence was cited for failure to maintain control.

Sibley, IA (KICD) — Two from Sibley are arrested on drug related charges.

On Monday, Osceola County Sheriffs Deputies arrested 67-year old Thomas Stewart and 58-year old Debra Stewart. They were allegedly in possession of a controlled substance.

Thomas was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Prohibited Acts and Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp, a class “D” felony. Debra was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Prohibited Acts.

The arrest stemmed from a search warrant executed at a residence in Sibley by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. During the search, Deputies located several items of drug paraphernalia, concentrated marijuana wax and marijuana plant material. Thomas and Debra Stewart were booked into the Osceola County Jail. Thomas was held on $5000 bond and Debra was held on $2000 bond.
