Spencer, IA (KICD)– A boat capsized this weekend on West Lake Okoboji on Friday evening.

Rich Jordet with the Iowa DNR says there were 15 individuals on the boat when it started taking on water. Nobody was injured.

The incident remains under investigation.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD) — A man wanted in Dickinson County is arrested in Storm Lake.

Early Sunday morning, a Storm Lake Police officer arrested 42-year old Christopher Libolt of Sioux city, after he was seen staggering across the road near the intersection of East 7th Street and Lake Avenue.

Police learned that Libolt was wanted out of Dickinson County, IA in reference to Possession of Marijuana 2nd Offense, Theft 5th Degree, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Storm Lake Police further charged Libolt with Public Intoxication 2nd Offense.

Libolt was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $2,435 bond.

Algona, IA (KICD)–Algona Police are on the lookout for a someone who stabbed an Emmetsburg man on Saturday night.

Algona Police say a disturbance at the Alter Life spilled out onto the sidewalk area shortly after 10:30 where 33-year-old Cody Henry was stabbed once with an unknown object. The bar was crowded due to a live music event and was shut down with witnesses were interviewed on scene.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Algona Police.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–Two from Denison on theft charges Friday for stealing from the Storm Lake Wal-Mart.

A search of the suspect vehicle turned up several items of stolen property including clothing, household goods, a blender, kitchen knives and more. The recovered stolen property is valued at approximately $650.

43-year-old Yosvany Solis and 31-year-old Nilan Gonzalez were each charged with 3rd Degree Theft.

Arnolds Park, IA (KICD)–New information has come from Arnolds Park Police in connection to a recent chase.

On June 28th 31-year-old Joseph Kruger of George took off from a traffic stop on his motorcycle. He led officers on a high speed chase through Arnolds Park, Okoboji, and Spirit Lake. The chase was called off just across the state line in Minnesota.

Kruger was arrested on Thursday on warrants for eluding and interference with official acts. He was also cited for 23 traffic infractions.

 

Storm Violent Juvenile

Storm Lake, IA (KICD) — A Storm Lake teen is charged after multiple reports of being aggressive .

On Sunday morning, Storm Lake Police were dispatched in reference to a report of a 17-year old female that had just come home and was intoxicated and violent.

Upon arrival, police made contact with the juvenile identified as Nyadhil Deng. Police allege Deng was acting aggressively and upon being placed under arrest she attempted to bite an officer. As she was removed from the residence, she was screaming and being disruptive. Deng was transported to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
Upon arriving Deng allegedly refused instructions and resisted officers, then reportedly spit in the face of an officer. Deng was evaluated and released from the medical center.

Police charged Deng with 2 counts of Assault on a Peace Officer, Disorderly Conduct, and Interference With Official Acts. She was processed and transported to the Youth Detention Facility in Cherokee pending a court date.

The case has been forwarded to the Juvenile Court Authority

 

Flag Theft/Drug Party Arrests

Storm Lake, IA (KICD) — An investigation into a flag theft results in several arrests on drug and alcohol charges.

On Friday morning, Storm Lake Police responded to a report of two subjects stealing an American flag from a residence.

As police were checking the area, their attention was drawn to a house at 745 North Walnut Lane. As officers approached approached the house, they detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the house. As they tried make contact with several people in the garage, the people reportedly fled into the house.

Police entered in pursuit, and encountered several people in the home, all of which were detained. Police allege they observed alcohol, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia in the residence. All of the occupants of the house were transported to the police station for questioning.

Then, after a consent search of the home, police located and seized two ounces of marijuana and assorted items of drug paraphernalia. As a result, police charged Emmerly Mai, Desmond Khounlo, Sara Hixon, Erik Olson , Kyle Reimers and Joseph Patton all of Storm Lake, along with Gregory Germann, of Alta, and Donald Halverson, of Omaha on numerous drug and alcohol charges. and were booked into jail on $1000 bonds each.

Lillian Freking, of Storm Lake, was cited on charges and was released pending a court date.

  On Saturday,afternoon, the Palo Alto County Sheriffs Department responded to an emergency call at 3084 560th Avenue, in reference to a collision of the two units.  Upon arrival, it was determined that Paul Ehmen of Cylinder was driving a 1994 Chevy S-10 northward, when it collided head on with a 4 wheeler that ws eastbound in the ditch then came upon the highway.
  The juvenile male driving the 4-wheeler was taken to the Palo Alto County Hospital by Ambulance with injuries, and a passenger on the unit was uninjured, and there were no injuries to Ehenen or a passenger in the pickup.
  The juvenile driver’s father, Ryan Yager of Fenton was cited for permitting an unauthorized minor to drive on a public roadway.
