Target hopes to make shopping a ‘snap’

NEW YORK (AP) — Ever see something in an ad or a display and want to buy it — but you don’t know who makes it? Target is coming out with an app that helps bridge that gap for shoppers.

It’s an app called “In a Snap” — and it will let you scan through magazine ads in home decor magazines like Architecture and Real Simple.

Users scan the image — and when it’s recognized by the app, it can be added to your shopping cart as a possible purchase.

There are already apps that can scan codes and tell you what the product is and where to buy it. But it’s harder to come up with one that does a consistent job of recognizing images or objects.
