$4M program aimed at attracting quality teachers

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Education Department is announcing a new initiative to attract quality teachers to the schools that need them most.

The department says it’s investing $4.2 million to start a technical assistance network to help states and districts create and implement educator equity plans.

The department says black, American Indian and Latino students are more likely to have teachers who are in their first year.
