Storm Lake Police Reports

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–Storm Lake Police were called out Wednesday evening to a report of a man with a bandana over his face brandishing a handgun.

Upon arrival of police they encountered two males hiding in an alleyway both armed with handguns. Police ordered the two people to the ground at gun point, disarmed them and took them into custody without further incident.

An investigation determined that an adult and juvenile male were using airsoft pistols which resemble actual firearms and were playing with the look alike weapons near the apartment complex. Airsoft pistols are realistic looking pistols that shoot plastic projectiles.

Police seized three airsoft guns and lectured the adult and the juvenile with his parents. Both were released without charges.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–Charges have been filed following the execution of a search warrant Wednesday morning at 1019 Michigan Street in Storm Lake.

The Storm Lake Police Entry Team supported by the K-9 Unit and investigators took one adult male into custody for questioning.

During the search of the residence police located and seized a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, Methadone, a substance commonly used to cut and dilute heroin, and snort tubes with residue believed to be heroin. In addition police located and seized ammunition from the residence.

A second person, identified as 54-year-old Guy Johns of Storm Lake, was located and taken into custody at the Storm Lake Tyson Plant in connection with the investigation. Johns was subsequently charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Drug Paraphernalia. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $1,300 cash bond.

Additional charges and arrests are anticipated in the investigation.

The Storm Lake Fire Department was called on scene to ventilate the residence of powder from a dry powder fire extinguisher. The dry powder extinguisher was used to ward off a charging pit bull by officers in the residence.
