Storm Lake, IA (KICD) — A Storm Lake man wanted in Puerto Rico is arrested after an assault.
On Wednesday afternoon, Storm Lake Police took a report in reference to an assault. Police were advised that Wednesday morning, the reporting party was physically assaulted by 26-year old Miguel Ortega Rivera while he was at work at the Tyson Plant in Storm Lake.
The victim stated that Ortega Rivera struck him several times in the face at which time Tyson personnel intervened and separated the two men. The victim sustained minor lacerations to his face which did not require medical attention.
While Storm Lake Police investigated the assault and were searching for Ortega Rivera, it was determined that he was wanted by the US Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms Department (ATF) on a warrant issued by the US Marshals Service in Puerto Rico and that Ortega Rivera should be considered armed and dangerous.
The warrant advised that Ortega Rivera had been charged with a Drug Conspiracy Violation involving the distribution of crack cocaine, heroin, cocaine and marijuana.
Storm Lake Police checked several addresses and finally located Ortega Rivera and he was arrested without incident.
Storm Lake Police charged Ortega Rivera with Assault Causing Injury and booked him into the Buena Vista County Jail where he was held on the assault charge and the US Marshal Service warrant without bond awaiting disposition and extradition to Puerto Rico.
