Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A couple from Galva were arrested Wednesday in connection with an eight month investigation into the manufacturing of methamphetamine.
52-year-old Jay and 36-year-old Joy Streck were pulled over by Storm Lake Police on Wednesday after they allegedly traveled to the Storm Lake Wal-Mart Store and purchased pseudoephedrine for the purpose of manufacturing methamphetamine. Pseudoephedrine and a small bag of meth was found in the couple’s vehicle.
A search warrant was executed at the Streck home where Police allegedly located and seized several items used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine including heating elements, glassware, scales, camp fuel, hydrogen peroxide, and ammonium nitrate. In addition, small amounts of methamphetamine and marijuana were located and seized along with additional drug paraphernalia. Ida County Deputies and the Storm Lake Public Safety Lab Response Team assisted with the search warrant.
Both individuals were charged with a class B felony count of Conspiracy to Manufacture Meth and a class D felony charge of Pseudoephedrine With the Intent to Manufacture Meth. Jay Streck was also charged with meth possession. They were both held in Buena Vista County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond each.
The investigation is continuing and additional arrests and charges are anticipated.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–Two students were caught smoking pot in a Storm Lake High School restroom on Tuesday.
Police identified the students as 16-year-old Jose Ramirez and 15-year-old Alejandro Vargas. A small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was seized.
Both teens were charged with possession of marijuana. Vargas was additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both juveniles were processed and transported to the Youth Detention Facility in Cherokee.
