Spencer, IA (KICD)–The Spencer School Board on Tuesday approved moving forward with a new storage building.
Architect Rick Dean with Canon Moss Brygger & Associates tells KICD News the building will primarily house athletic equipment and will be located by the bus barn, south of the football field at Spencer High School.
Superintendent Terry Hemann says the approximate $166,000 cost came well within the district’s $200,000 target.
Hemann says they have been storing items at a number of different venues including an old church on the edge of town with poor ventilation.
The board also chose four legislative priorities to submit to the Iowa Association of School Boards.
In other notes of interest the board has been invited to give a presentation on their involvement with the Lighthouse program at the annual Iowa Association of School Boards meeting, Steve Avery was appointed as district attorney, and Mark Lawson was named truant officer.
