Spencer, IA (KICD)–Spencer Hospital now has a better way to fight bladder cancer in detection and treatment.
Dr. David Christ, a partner in Northwest Iowa Urologists PC tells KICD News the new technology is called blue light cystoscopy.
Christ says blue light cystoscopy can help with detection.
The new blue light technology uses the standard white light cystoscopy for the first portion of the procedure, then a blue light setting is used which, when used with the Cysview solution, increases the visibility of cancerous sites.
Spencer Hospital is one of the first facilities in the country to acquire blue light cystoscopy technology, and the second in Iowa, with the University of Iowa Hospital being the other.
