Spencer, IA (KICD)–The Spencer Finance & Personnel Committee covered a number of topics at their Tuesday meeting.
Spencer City Manager Bob Fagen tells KICD News that the Committee discussed the ramifications of the Affordable Care Act for the the City.
After a lengthy discussion it was determined that the city will not have any tier 2 employees who would be eligible for health insurance, with the exception of one who was grandfathered in.
Fagen says the committee also discussed the city’s share of funding for the Clay County Regional Events Center.
The council voiced they would like to see the city’s $90,000 annual share decreased after 3 years. Under the new Events Center Management agreement Venuworks takes in 50 cents off of every ticket sold and 8.5 percent of the concession proceeds.
Lastly the Committee discussed the possibility of a short term Project Manager position.
The Project Manager position would only have to be utilized in this scenario if the the Police Department’s move to the current SMU building runs past next April.
