Spencer Council Recap

Spencer, IA (KICD)–The Spencer City Council zipped through their meeting last evening with business items completed in less than 5 minutes.

The council approved a contribution of $25,000 to the Rose Retail Revolving Loan Fund. So far three downtown businesses have utilized this fund to help get their businesses started and several others have shown interest. This contribution will come out of city sales tax revenues.

The final replat of lot 9 at the Green Industrial Center passed. The lot will be utilized for the Hensall Condiments project.

The council also approved an agreement with Beck Engineering for 2013-14 North Park and West View Park Sidewalk/Recreational Trail Improvements Project. A Spring letting is anticipated.

Police Chief Mark Lawson shared a reminder about Halloween.

Mayor Reynold Peterson put out a call for a new library board member. In the interest of keeping boards and commission gender equal a male is being sought to fill the position. The entire meeting wrapped up in roughly 15 minutes.
