Spencer, IA (KICD)–The Spencer City Council will meet this evening.

Prior to regular session is a Progress & Development Committee meeting. Agenda items include discussion of the Quality Housing Initiative Program and a proposed Residential Housing Development along with a Storm Water update.

An agreement with the Clay County Conservation Board to allow for the City of Spencer to construct a portion of the Little Sioux Recreational Trail on the southern portion of the Bob Howe Wildlife Area is on the docket.

A public hearing on a resolution Taking Additional Action on a Loan Agreement and General Obligation Refunding Bonds will take place. This could mean potential savings of around $66,000 or 4 percent for the city’s sewer fund.

The consent agenda includes approval of the 2013-14 sharing agreement with the Spencer Community School district for a School Resource Officer and the purchase of a 2013 Chevy Impala and a 2013 Ford Sedan for the Spencer Police Department at a cost of nearly $47,000. $50,000 was set aside in the budget for the new vehicles.

Appointments to city boards and commissions rounds out the agenda.

Tonight’s Progress & Development Committee meeting starts at 5:30 with the regular session to follow at 6:30 in the council chambers of Spencer City Hall.
