Spencer, IA (KICD)–The Spencer City Council will meet this evening.
The council is slated to take official action on expanding the city’s successful Quality Housing Initiative Grant Program. Over 30 individuals have taken advantage of the program to date. In committee Councilmembers showed support for upping the range by $15,000 on the high end, which would allow for new home builds in the $110,000-$195,000 range to be eligible for these funds. The total cost for an additional 40 homes is $600,000 as each new home build is eligible for $15,000. The city’s share for this round of funding is $200,000.
A public hearing will take place regarding the Plans, Specifications, Form of Contract and Estimate of Cost for the Little Sioux River Trail/Bridge Project. Bids for the project will be presented tonight.
The Public Safety Committee will convene prior to the regular meeting. They are set to discuss banning firearms at the City’s tree site & from adjoining properties, on-call pay for EMS response, and issuing fireworks permits. They will meet at 5:45.
