Special Olympics Coming to Spirit Lake

Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)–The North Central Iowa Special Olympics have been moved from Forest City to Spirit Lake. After numerous weather-related cancellations the state organization selected Spirit Lake as the new site after Bedell Family YMCA director Norm Johnson offered to make his facility available in the event of bad weather.

Johnson tells KICD News the opportunity to show off Spirit Lake to visitors from 9 counties is an added benefit.

Special Olympics track and field events will be held at the Spirit Lake high school football complex April 10th if the weather is good.

Norm Johnson made his announcement on KICD’s George Bower program.
