Spencer, IA (KICD)–Seasons Center for Behavioral Health has launched a $1 million “Committed to Children, Faithful to Families” campaign for a new Regional Children’s Center in Spencer.
As previously reported by KICD News Season purchased the former Twetten’s Interior Design building last December with this purpose in mind. Seasons Executive Director Kim Scorza tells KICD News they served 1,290 children in 2012, and have already served more than 1,340 in 2013.
Scorza says this fills a need as the closest children’s center she has found is currently being constructed in Minneapolis. The Regional Children’s Center will serve children, ages 0-21, through a variety of behavioral health services. These include, but are not limited to, outpatient therapy, psychological testing, psychiatric services, behavioral health intervention services, and substance abuse counseling.
Seasons will officially launch the “Committed to Children, Faithful to Families” campaign this Monday with tours of the space at the former Twetten’s Interior Design building from 5-8 p.m. with a free “Candyland Walk” for children through the building as part of Spencer’s Grand Meander. The public is invited to come see the space and the preliminary renovation plans, as designed by Cannon Moss Brygger Architects.
The renovation of the building is expected to begin mid-2014, with the facility opening in 2015. More than half of the funds needed have already been raised.
Anyone wanting to make a donation or with additional questions should get in touch with the Seasons Center.
