Sanborn Accident

Sanborn, IA (KICD) — Details have been released in a Wednesday morning accident in Sanborn.

Sanborn Police said the accident happened around 9:55 Wednesday morning, at the intersection of Highway 18 and Western Street.  A 2008 Dodge Nitro, was westbound on Highway 18, and was stopped behind another vehicle making a left turn onto Western Street.

A westbound 2004 Ford Explorer towing a travel trailer approached the intersection, and failed to stop before colliding with the Nitro, then striking an eastbound 2005 Dodge Dakota pickup.

As a result, the driver of the Dakota pickup was taken to Baum Harmon Hospital in Primghar with incapcitating injuries.  The driver of the Ford Explorer was uninjured, but three passengers in the vehicle, and the Nitro driver were all taken to Sanford Sheldon with possible injuries.

The victims names were withheld in the report.  Assisting at the accident scene was the Iowa State Patrol, O’Brien County Sheriffs Office, along with Sanborn Ambulance, Sanborn Fire Department, Hartley Ambulance, Primghar Ambulance and the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team.,
