Spencer, IA (KICD)–Action on a bid for work on the boardwalk at the Spencer Riverfront Development was tabled this week after bids came in a bit high.
Matt Barstad with Kruse, Cate, & Nelson noted that they received a pair of bids for the project. Hazelhoff Construction’s low bid of over $288,000 was well over the $240,000 estimate.
Barstad says that the bids may have come in a bit high due to the discovery of some underground issues.
The City Council tabled a decision on the bid as Barstad says they will be speaking with Hazelhoff Construction to see if they can whittle the cost down towards their estimate.
The Spencer Riverfront Development Boardwalk project consists of site work, concrete boardwalk elements with a stone veneer base, decorative metal railing system, architectural precast bollards and entry monuments, brick paver walking surfaces, concrete sidewalks, parking areas and a street approach.
