Lily Lake Wreck

Spirit Lake, IA (KICD) — An Estherville man is injured after falling out of a pickup.

Shortly after 8-pm last Sunday, the Dickinson county Sheriffs Office investigated a single vehicle accident that occurred on 175th Street on the south side of Lily Lake.  A 2005 Chevy pickup, driven by 18-year old Lew Peterson of Estherville was westbound on 175th Street.  As he rounded a curve, a passenger riding in the pickup bed, 21-year old Cody Peterson fell out of the pickup, landing on the roadway.

Cody Peterson was taken to Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, with incapacitating injuries  .As a result of the crash, Lew Peterson was cited for reckless driving.  Assisting in the investigation was the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office.


Highway 9/M-27 Accident

Lake Park, IA (KICD) — A Sibley man was injured in a two vehicle accident south of Lake Park.

The Dickinson County Sheriffs Office said the accdient occurred around 1:31 last Sunday, at the intersection of M-27 and Highway 9.

34-year old Chanelle Gembler of Rossie was driving a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound on M-27. She stopped at the intersection with Hwy 9 and then proceeded into the intersection to turn east. The Cherokee struck a 2005 Honda motorcycle driven by 52-year old Hugh Schiphoff of Sibley.

Schiphoff was transported to Lakes Regional Healthcare by Ambulance with incapacitating injuries. Gembler was cited for failure to yield.  Assisting at the scene was the Spirit Lake Ambulance, Lake Park Ambulance and Rescue, and Lake Park Fire Department


Car vs Semi Accident

Burt, IA (KICD) — An Algona man is injured in a car vs semi accident.

The Kossuth County Sheriffs Office said shortly after 1 Friday, Hunter Buscherfeld was southbound on Highway 169 in a Ford Focus, just south of Burt, when he crossed the center line, going onto the opposite shoulder.

Buscherfeld then over corrected, losing control of the Focus, going into the path of a semi, driven by Kenneth Grimm, of Algona.  The vehicles collided, and the power of the impact knocked the engine out of the Focus, which was totalled in the accident.  The semi received minor damage.

Buscherfeld was transported to the Kossuth Regional Health Center with incapacitating injuries, and was later taken to Mercy Hospital in Mason City. The semi driver was not injured in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.


Fenton Accident

Fenton, IA (KICD) — Two were injured in a two vehicle accident just south of Fenton.

The Iowa State Patrol said the accident occurred shortly after 3-pm Friday, as Tanya Borg of Forest City was eastbound on 300th Street, in a Ford Escape, when she crossed the center line into the path of a northbound Dodge Ram 3500 pickup, driven by Al Laubenthal of Whittemore.

The vehicles collided, sending the Escape to rest in the ditch, while the pickup stopped on the northbound side of the roadway. Borg and a passenger, 18-year old Melissa Borg both received incapacitating injuries in the crash, and were taken to the hospital by paramedics. Laubenthal and two passengers in the Dodge were uninjured.

The accident remains under investigation.

Blazer Hits Tractor

Spirit Lake, IA (KICD) — One person is injured after a Blazer rear-ends a tractor.

The Dickinson County Sheriffs Office investigated the two vehicle accident just before 9 Monday evening, in the 1400 block of 240th Avenue near Spirit Lake.

A 2007 Chevy Trailblazer, driven by 17-year old Alex Pringnitz of Spirit Lake was northbound on 240th Avenue, when he ran into the rear of a 1945 Farmall tractor, driven by 57-year old Timmy LInn of Spirit Lake.

Linn was ejected from the tractor, landing on the windshield of the Blazer. He received non-incapacitating injuries and was treated on scene and released. Pringnitz was not injured in the accident.

Damage to the Trailblazer was estimated at $8000, and $4000 to the Farmall. Assisting at the scene was the Spirit Lake Police, Spirit Lake Ambulance, First Responders, and Spirit Lake Fire Department

The accident remains under investigation.
